The Utah Congressional Delegation is excited to announce the America 250 Speech Contest to celebrate America's 250th birthday in 2026. This is a special opportunity for young people to reflect on the unique history and values that have shaped our great country and have their words shared in our Nation's Capitol.
High school students in Utah are invited to write a speech that expresses "What America Means to Me." Complete contest rules and submission guidelines below:
Important Dates:
The contest opens on August 18, 2025 and ends on November 24, 2025.
Eligibility and Speech Requirements:
The contest is open to all Utah students in grades 9-12. Students must submit a 2-minute speech about the theme, "What America Means to Me."
Submission Process:
Each district must submit one winning speech from each participating high school by November 24, 2025.
Recognition and Prizes:
The delegation will select one winner who will be notified directly. The winning speech will be read on the U.S. House floor in January 2026.
The winners of each school district will receive a special letter from the delegation recognizing their contribution. They will also have the chance to read their winning speech at the Utah State Capitol in January 2026.
