Recipient: Torrey Town

Location: 75 East 100 North, Torrey, UT 84775

Amount: $1,200,000

Explanation:   This project scope is to replace the bridge with a modern bridge with an updated structure capable of supporting the hydraulic, width, and weight criteria of modern codes. An existing bridge provides access to approximately 40% of Torrey Town residents. This bridge crosses Sand Creek and is the only access to these residents' homes. The bridge is deficient in three ways: 1. Hydraulicly the bridge cannot handle the high flows of Sand Creek which often happens in the monsoon months of July and August; 2. The bridge is not wide enough to accommodate fire apparatus vehicles; 3. The bridge is not constructed according to the more modern engineering methods used to accommodate the heavier loads for a frequently used road. During a fire or flood these residents beyond the bridge would be isolated with no emergency egress from the Sleeping Rainbow neighborhood.
