Washington, D.C. — This week, Representative Celeste Maloy (UT-02) became a member of the Congressional Sportsmen’s Caucus (CSC). This bipartisan, bicameral group of lawmakers works to preserve and advance the nation’s rich traditions of hunting, fishing, trapping, and recreational shooting alongside conservation efforts.
“Hunting and fishing is a way of life for many Utahns, and it needs to be protected,” said Rep. Maloy. “I look forward to working with my colleagues on policies that open up our public lands and advance recreational opportunities for sportsmen and women who have fallen in love with Utah’s diverse landscape.”
“I am excited that Congresswoman Celeste Maloy will be joining the Congressional Sportsmen’s Caucus,” said CSC Co-Chair Rep. Bruce Westerman (AR-04). “Being from Utah and representing a district with abundant outdoor recreation opportunities, I am sure that she will be a valuable member of the caucus as we continue to develop solutions to expand access for sportsmen and women across the nation.”
“Utah’s vast and iconic beauty has inspired Americans for generations,” said CSC Co-Chair Rep. Jimmy Panetta (CA-19). “We are proud to welcome Rep. Celeste Maloy to our ranks as we further the bipartisan conservation goals of the Congressional Sportsmen’s Caucus. I look forward to partnering with her as we develop commonsense solutions to expand access to outdoor recreation so that all Americans can enjoy the beauty and bounty of our great nation.”
"As a member of the Gubernatorial Sportsmen’s Caucus, I value the efforts of the GSC, Congressional Sportsmen’s Caucus and National Assembly of Sportsmen’s Caucuses to protect the interests of hunters, anglers and outdoor enthusiasts as well as work on fish and wildlife management. Rep. Maloy will be a tremendous asset to the Congressional Sportsmen’s Caucus, and I look forward to working with her on these important issues,” said Utah Governor Spencer Cox.
Protecting hunting and fishing has become a key issue for Utah which is home to a wide range of wildlife, wilderness areas, and national parks. In 2020, Utah passed HJR 15 with 75% of the vote in the general election which amended the state constitution to protect the right to hunt and fish using traditional means and methods.
The Congressional Sportsmen’s Caucus includes approximately 200 members representing nearly all 50 states. Find more information on the caucus’ work HERE. |
