Rep. Maloy Applauds Passage of the One Big, Beautiful Bill

Representative Celeste Maloy (UT-02) released the following statement after the House passed H.R. 1 – the One Big Beautiful Bill Act:

“The bottom line on the One Big, Beautiful Bill is it puts hardworking American families and our most vulnerable first. It reflects what Americans voted for in November — a return to common sense and accountability. It protects every citizen from the largest tax increase in American history by providing tax relief for working families.  It secures our border and strengthens our national security, restores American energy independence, and invests in rural communities. This bill also includes historic compensation for downwinders and uranium workers, expanding eligibility throughout Utah.  While no bill is perfect, the One Big, Beautiful Bill reflects the promises made and kept by President Trump and House Republicans,” said Rep. Celeste Maloy.

The One Big, Beautiful Bill includes many wins for Utah including:

  • Increases the standard deduction for seniors
  • Raises the Child Tax Credit by $200 per child
  • No tax on tips and overtime pay
  • $160 billion in border security funding
  • Increased allowances and special pay for military families
  • Reforms Medicaid and SNAP, strengthening these programs for the most vulnerable
  • Onshore oil and gas lease sales, benefiting Utah’s energy sector
  • Reauthorizes RECA for two years and expands access to uranium miners and all of Utah
  • $50 billion for the Rural Health Transformation Program to assist rural hospitals
  • Raises the death tax exemption, saving 2 million family farms across the country, including in Utah
  • Rescinds wasteful IRA dollars and terminates tax credits for electric vehicles on Sept. 30 and EV charging infrastructure in June 2026.
  • Retains tax credits for baseload technologies like advanced nuclear, geothermal, and hydro power as well as energy storage into the 2030s.
